Benefits of Massage

Every single one of us has recieved and given massage at some point in our lifetime without even realising that we were doing so. Have you ever bumped your elbow and then rubbed it ? Have you ever picked up a child after they have fallen over and rubbed there knee better ? Have you ever put your arm around someone to console them and gently rubbed their back ?

The therapeutic, unconditional touch of another person can have many wonderful benefits both physically and psychologically. Holistic massage aims to treat not just the presenting problem, such as stiff shoulders, but the entire person. Some people would say this means 'mind, body and soul' which to an extent is true but it does somewhat simplify it. A holistic therapist looks at a persons whole lifestyle such as diet, sleeping patterns, exercise and stress levels, and can tailor a treatment and advice specifically for the needs of that person to both treat the presenting problem and to help maintain a healthy, balanced body in between treatments.
